Time to
say good-bye, or see you again Myanmar! I flew from Mandalay to Yangon Sunday morning. Due to a 7 hour layover I decided to head to Palm Spring Resort Yangon
to enjoy the sun and use their pool. I had the most amazing and relaxing
layover! When I got back to Yangon International Airport there was some
complications. Before I started my trip, I made sure that I had all documents
and visas required. However, when it was time to check in, the lady at the counter
told me that I need a visa for entering Taipei. I immediately got nervous and
thought; were my dreams really telling me
something? I´ve had a few dreams during my stay in Myanmar about me having
complications with flights etc. and now was the time. I stepped away from the
line, researched a little and came back to show her that I don´t need a visa.
After a 45-minute struggle, I finally got my tickets and was ready for
departure.
When I arrived in Kuala Lumpur the same evening at 11:30pm, there was
nothing else to do but take a bus to the city center. I had a single room
booked at Hotel China Town 2 for one night. I´ve visited Kuala Lumpur before, so I didn´t
bother taking any pictures. Instead I enjoyed the weather, had lunch and did a lot
of window-shopping.
The next day at 3pm I once again headed towards the airport,
this time with Taiwan as the destination. In the aircraft I sat next to
Margaret, the most adorable 55-year young lady who is Indonesian, but lives in
Taipei. We shared things about our lives, shared our snacks with each other and
changed contact information. Let´s see if we have a chance to meet up again
before I leave Taiwan.
While at the airport, when I arrived to the immigration (without a visa) the girl at the counter was just about to stamp my passport, but hesitated. I knew what she was thinking so I just said: "I know what you are thinking. I don´t have a visa because I don´t need one, I´m from Finland". "Oh yes, you are absolutely right" she said and gave me my passport back. Thank god! The purchase of the bus tickets was very
complicated. Nobody knew where my hostel was located, but luckily Google Maps
helped me all the way to the door and I had a good night sleep.
During this trip, I´ve come across the longest and most insane lines for the immigration. First in Beijing and now in Taipei. There´s nothing else to do but wait.
