Sunrise and Sunset in Bagan

It´s 04:45am and we are ready to rent an E-bike. Altogether we were approximately 20 people who went on this tour. We drove for 10 minutes before heading up to a temple that was opened just for us. As we sat on the "rooftop" of the temple, we could see the hot air balloons rising with the sun and see how the sky changed colours. What an amazing experience and such a wonderful view! When we reached our hotel we sat down for a quick breakfast, bought bus tickets to Inle Lake (our next destination), and we also reserved two beds at a hostel.

About Bagan (where we are at the moment) is an ancient city in Mandalay region. Between the 11th and 13th century over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed here. Today there are "only" 2200 left. The Bagan Arcaelogocial Zone reminds me of Angkor Wat in Cambodia a little.

Our day was spent temple hopping. I´ve seen so many temples during this trip so far, but they do differ from country from country. We visited the most popular temples such as Shwe Zi Gone Pagoda, Htilominlo and Ananda Temple, but we also explored some of the smaller pagodas and temples. For lunch, fruits! Bagan is quite a small place, which is still developing and becoming a more popular destination. So at the moment there is not much to do if you are on a low budget at least.

The evening was spent watching the sunset. I must say that the sunset tour was´t as successful as the sunrise tour we had this morning. Afterwards Taru and myself enjoyed a delicious Burmese dinner in Old Bagan. One of the best meals so far!
