The Song
of Travel Hostel is new and opened their doors last year in November. The
hostel has a big hangout area, a rooftop; they organise boat tours on the lake
and trekking tours. The ladies working at the front desk are helpful, welcoming
and they definitely make sure that you are all right during your stay. The
location is great; there are many restaurants, ATMs and markets nearby.
The big question: should a hostel offer Wi-Fi
or not? “We don´t have Wi-Fi, talk, to each other” as it says here. I do agree,
it´s great that the hostel doesn´t necessary offer that. You can easily get to
know new people and not be to obsessed with social media and friends at home.
On the other hand, If the hostel doesn´t offer Wi-Fi, it might these days
unfortunately be a reason not to book this hostel. There could at least be a
computer that the guests could use for booking flights or accommodation, or in
general do some research without having to leave the hostel.
You will manage to have an excellent stay, with
or without Wi-Fi. I paid 10€/night for a bed in a female dorm. The breakfast at
the rooftop was included in the price and bicycle rental, which is the most
convenient way to get around in Inle Lake.
I really enjoyed my stay at Song of Travel Hostel, and could definitely
see myself staying here again in the future.
