You can't say that you have been to Morocco without spending a night or two at a riad. Riad is a traditional moroccan house that is built around a central courtyard. These riads are often converted into hotels or guest-houses. The prices for staying at a riad varies. As I had a look online, there were riads for 38€ a night, but also riads as much as 100€ a night. I chose to go for the perfect location and therefore Riad Dar Soufa was ideal. It's located just by the main street of the old medina close to supermarkets, restaurants etc.
The arrival experience was great. I received a warm welcome and was served mint tea with moroccan cookies. As I was escorted to my room, I had apparently booked the best room that the riad has to offer. It's 23sqm, with a soft bed, high sealing and an open bathroom. When I entered the room, my jaw dropped for a moment. The riad also has a rooftop with tables, chairs and sunbeds. The breakfast is served at the rooftop and included in the price. The breakfast was just amazing, definitely worth it and gave me the perfect start of the day.
The staff was so accommodating, friendly and had plenty of recommendations of what to do and where to eat. If I ever return to Rabat, I will definitely stay here. Now, it's time to check out so I will have to start with the packing. Yet again I'm off to the next destination.
